Thanks to their clear cutting sharpness, serranos are suitable for "hot" dishes. A classic mexican chilli. The plant produces hanging 40 to 80 mm long sharp fruits with 12 to 18 mm diameter, which can be harvested green, but very beautiful bright red. The fruits are thick, but not as strong as jalapeños; They contain more seeds that fully fill the interior of the ripe fruit. The name "Serrano" means "highland plant". The plants become about 60 to 80 cm high and get a circumference of about 40 cm.
